FOR OUR YOUTH

Jernigan Community Resource Foundation (JCRF) was founded in June 2008 by Terri Thomas.

Terri’s vision for JCRF is to provide at risk youth with educational programs centered on environmental topics. For JCRF, it is of the utmost importance that our youth understand the importance of preserving our Earth’s resources.

We believe the children are the future, and teachhing them to be more environmentally conscious is our goal. In addition to our environmental efforts, JCRF youth will also participate in community outreach programs and youth sports programs. Our goal at JCRF is to shape and mold our youth to become responsible citizens.

Environmental sustainability is an important part of maintaining our resources.
JCRF pledges to do its part in maintaining our environment through recycling programs and sustainability.


Plastic Recycling Information

Studies shows the U.S. goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually. An estimated 12 million barrels of oil is required to make that many plastic bags.

  • 1 out of every 100 plastic bags are recycled
  • An estimated 50 plastic bags go into each American household per week.
  • Plastic bags cause over 100.00 turtles and other marine animals deaths every year when animals mistake them for food.

     Newspaper Recycling Information

For every ton of paper used for recycling the savings are:

  • At least 3000 liters of water saved
  • 3000-4000 KWh of electricity (enough to supply lighting for an average size 3 bedroom home for one year).
  • 95% reduction in air pollution
